Vijaya Mohan

– Master Rangoli Artist in Singapore

Vijaya Mohan is a renowned and award-winning rangoli artist in Singapore, art therapist, and cultural advocate. She holds the Guinness World Record for the largest rangoli in the world, the Malaysian Book of Records for the largest portrait kolam, and over 57 Singapore Book of Records titles across various categories.

With more than 30,000 rangoli artworks created locally and internationally, Vijaya has showcased her work at major national events and for Singapore’s leadership. Her notable achievements include contributions to the Singapore Bicentennial and a record-breaking rangoli flower carpet at Gardens by the Bay, measuring 34 metres in diameter.

Specialising in large-scale rangoli designs, Vijaya is known for blending traditional Indian art with contemporary materials and themes, creating visually striking installations for corporate events, festivals, and public showcases.

Global Rangoli Artist & Cultural Ambassador

Vijaya Mohan is actively involved in promoting rangoli art globally through workshops, exhibitions, and international collaborations. She has conducted rangoli workshops in Singapore and overseas, helping to preserve and modernise this traditional art form.

She is the creator of “Singa Rangoli”, an innovative style that incorporates materials such as CDs, cotton buds, toothpicks, and recycled elements. As a member of CIDAE (International Society for Ephemeral Arts), she has participated in global festivals and flower carpet exhibitions.

Her international projects include rangoli and flower carpet installations in Tokyo, Spain, Mexico, Italy, Taiwan, Osaka, and Chengdu. In 2026, she collaborated with CIDAE to organise the World Rangoli Flower Carpet in Singapore, bringing together artists from six countries and promoting cross-cultural exchange.

Art Therapy & Community Impact

Beyond her artistic achievements, Vijaya Mohan is a Singapore-trained art therapist and special educator with over 20 years of experience. She has worked extensively in art therapy programmes across schools, healthcare institutions, and community organisations.

Her experience includes:

  • Supporting children with autism in school settings
  • Conducting art therapy sessions at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH)
  • Working with elderly rehabilitation centres and hospice care
  • Supporting underprivileged communities, including migrant workers

She also conducts art therapy workshops and training programmes for:

  • Teachers and educators
  • Social workers and counsellors
  • Parents of children with special needs

Through her work, Vijaya integrates art, therapy, and community service, making a meaningful social impact in Singapore and beyond.
